Wash the lentils thoroughly and place them in a pressure cooker with water, salt, turmeric powder and bay leaves. Pressure cook until the lentils are tender. For the tempering, heat oil in a pan and fry cumin seeds, red chilli and a pinch of asafoetida. Add PCM Dal Masala and fry briefly until aromatic. Pour the prepared tempering over the cooked dal and serve hot.
